Erik Halvorson For Longview City Council

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Longview City Council. My name is Erik Halvorson and I live, work, and worship in Longview. I am a proud husband and father of 5 kids and I am dedicated to making our community an even better place for them and all families to thrive.

As a member of the City Council, I believe my experience as a manager of a financial institution, my understanding of budget and fiscal responsibility, and my passion for community development will allow me to play an important role in helping to balance the city's budget and bring new business and industry to Longview. I will work to attract new investment and create job opportunities for residents, while also ensuring that our existing businesses are supported and can thrive. I will be an advocate for the downtown community. I believe that the downtown area is the heart of our city and I will work to preserve its unique character while also promoting its growth and development.

As a city council member, I will work on infrastructure issues to make sure that our roads are properly maintained and kept in good condition, this will help ensure the safety of our residents and also improve the overall aesthetic of our community, making it more inviting for residents and visitors.

I believe that public safety is of the utmost importance for any community and as a city council member, I will make it a priority to enhance public safety in Longview. I will work to ensure that our police and fire departments have the necessary resources and support to keep our residents and visitors safe. I will also work to address any issues of crime and safety in our community and work on initiatives to prevent crime before it occurs. I will also work with community organizations and local leaders to improve emergency preparedness and response. I am committed to making sure that Longview is a safe and secure place for all its residents and visitors.

I am also a strong supporter of our library and parks in Longview. As a member of the library board of trustees, I have worked on policies to enhance the library for all residents, including increasing access to technology and resources, and expanding educational and cultural programming.

I understand the importance of having well-maintained parks and recreational areas for our community, and I will work to ensure that our parks are safe, clean, and accessible to all. I also believe that our parks play a vital role in promoting health and well-being, so I will work to create more opportunities for physical activity and outdoor recreation.

I am committed to working with my fellow council members to make Longview a better place for all residents. I am ready to listen to your concerns and work to find solutions that will benefit our community.

I humbly ask for your support in the upcoming election. Together, we can make Longview a city that we can all be proud of.
